FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2011-2012


The fourth stage of FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2011-2012 is taking place from June 10th to 22nd in Kazan (Russia).
Elina Danielian defeated Nadezhda Kosinteseva and again assumed the sole lead in the tournament.
World champion Hou Yifan got better position in the middle game against Antoaneta Stefanova and later on launched a decisive attack on the black’s king.
Despite playing with black pieces, Katerina Lahno fought for the initiative from the very beginning trying to take advantage of the bad placement of white knight in the game against the local celebrity Alisa Galliamova. Being short with time, Alisa didn’t defend with precision and lost the game.

FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2011-2012

The fourth stage of FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2011-2012 is taking place from June 10th to 22nd in Kazan (Russia).
After the press conference FIDE President Kirsan Iyumzhinov made the first symbolic move in the game betweenHumpy Koneru and Hou Yifan.
The opening round passed in a tense struggle, nevertheless the first three games Viktorija Cmilyte – Katerina LahnoElina Danielian – Anna Muzychuk, Humpy Koneru – Hou Yifan were drawn.

After the first time control Alisa Galliamova managed to win against Betul Yildiz in a slightly better endgame.
The long game between Antoaneta Stefanova and Nadezhda Kosintseva finished in favor of the newly crowned World Rapid Champion.
A very exciting clash between Tatiana Kosintseva and Alexandra Kosteniuk ended in a draw.
The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Draw offers are not allowed. Games start at 15:00h local time. The prize fund is 40,000 euro.
