3rd year Blood donation camp

PYTW(Patanjali yoga trust world) & Chromepet chess academy Successfully conducted 3rd year  Blood donation camp yesterday at CCA premises.

Lions Blood Bank doctors & team started their social duty at 10:am to 1:30pm. More than 35 people actively participated in the Camp.

Why donate blood?
There is no substitute for human blood. it cannot be manufactured. Blood be stored for long. There is a constant need for blood donation to meet the demand of blood & its components. Blood donated by you can save the life of someone who is undergoing surgery or had lost blood in any injury or childbirth. Blood is also needed by cancer patients & Patients of Haemophilia, Thalassaemia & Severe anaemia. Nobody knows who will require blood, when and where, one day you mat require it. A good and regular donor base in the community is insurance for all. Donating blood makes you aware of your blood group.

Why is voluntary blood donation important?
Voluntary or non-remunerated blood donation is the source of the healthiest blood.

How much can i donate?
You Can donate 350 ml at one time. This is just 7% of the 5 litres of blood in your body, and can be donated without causing any harm at all. Your body naturally replenishes this amount of blood within 24hours to few days.

How often can i donate?
Blood can be donated once in 90 days or in other words, you can donate blood up to to 4 times in  a year.

Is blood donation safe?
Yes, it is. You cannot get any infection, including HIV, while donating blood as all consumables and equipment used during the process are sterile and safe from infection.

Will i feel dizzy or weak due to the loss of blood?
No, you will not. You will only be accepted as a blood donor if you weigh more than 45 kgs and have an adequate heamoglobin count, in which case you will not feel any weakness or discomfort, you can resume your normal activities, including driving immediately after donation.

How long will i take?
It will take one hour of your time. The actual process of donation only takes few minutes.

Where can i donate blood?
At any licensed blood bank in public and voluntary / charitable sector or at a blood donation camp.
